She Harry Whipple says that after his grandmother (Estella Louisa) married Fred Merritt Whipple, they lived on Mason's Island Road in Mystic, before they built a bridge to the island. Fred would rent rowboats in the summer, and in the winter he'd bring them into the basement and refurbish them. Fred had courted Estella Louisa before she married Daniel Joash Whipple, but Estella chose to marry Daniel. After he died, Fred then came around and they were later married. As Harry said, Estella was 3 times a Whipple.
